Why Your Colorbond® Colour Has More Than One Name

You check your fencing invoice and it says “Grey Ridge”. You search for Grey Ridge Colorbond® paint and keep finding Woodland Grey instead. Same thing with Ebony and Night Sky, or Merino and Paperbark. It’s one of the most common questions we get, so here’s what’s going on.

Why one colour can have several names

The official Colorbond® colour name is set by BlueScope, but the businesses that make and sell finished products, like fencing and garden sheds, sometimes sell their range under their own colour names. The steel colour is equivalent, but the name on your invoice depends on who supplied it.

That's why your fencing paperwork can show a different name from the roof or gutters, even though they look the same.

Colour names we match to the same can

In the MatchMyPaint range, each of these groups is matched to the same touch-up colour. If your paperwork shows any of the names, that’s your can:

  • Woodland Grey / Grey Ridge / Slate
  • Surfmist / Off White
  • Night Sky / Ebony
  • Paperbark / Merino / Terrace
  • Classic Cream / Smooth Cream
  • Stone / Riversand / Beige
  • Pale Eucalypt / Meadow / Mist Green
  • Wilderness / Willow / Rivergum
  • Cottage Green / Caulfield Green / Evergreen
  • Manor Red / Red Oak / Heritage Red
  • Headland / Tuscan Red
  • Deep Ocean / Bluestone / Mountain Blue
  • Windspray / Armour Grey
  • Dune / Birch Grey
  • Gull Grey / Shale Grey
  • Domain / Primrose

What if my name isn't on the list?

Check our full Colorbond® Match range first, since most colours are listed under their standard name. If you still can't find it, the name maybe specific to one supplier. Send us the name and a photo through our contact page and we'll help match it.

A quick tip before you spray

Even with the right name, older steel can fade in the sun. Spray a small hidden spot first, let it dry fully, and compare it in daylight before doing the visible repair. For more help, see how to find your Colorbond® colour.
